Hi, I’m Ella Gillard, founder of Ella Gillustrations. Ella Gillustrations is a sustainable fashion and prints brand, based in Leeds, UK.
I’ve always loved both illustrating and fashion design, so merging the 2 together with my interest in traditional witchcraft to create Ella Gillustrations seemed like the right way to go.
The surreal characters I create take inspiration from creatures that are commonly associated with witches and the symbolism behind them.
All in all, bright colours, contrasting prints and fabrics, a sustainable mindset and a witchy character here and there would sum up this whimsy slow fashion brand.
I began the brand in November 2022 and have since been building the brand and trading at various events. Check out the 'events' page to see where I'll be next!
I’m a recent Fashion Design graduate, my final collection ‘Secrets of Witches’ has been published in The Times, The Yorkshire Post, Hunter, Aether and Fesch Magazine. The collection was inspired by the traditional witches and feminists and how the 2 could be interlinked.
If you have any questions or would like to know more please feel free to get in touch.

Lola loves to skate, in memory of her coven. Some of the ponds where the horrific witch trials took place were later used for ice rinks and became known as
‘haunted ponds’. Lola skates through these, freeing the witches’ spirits with her.
It is believed that the Devil can appear to witches in the animal form of a Goat. Vivi uses her apple talisman to help her balance the good and evil within her.
A combination of a bee and a hare. Traditional witches carried a bag of dead bees as a prosperity charm. They were thought to bring happiness, health and good fortune. It is also believed witches could shapeshift into the appearance of hares.
Turtle shells were often used for spells and fortune telling in traditional witchcraft. Ludo uses their shell to foresee the weather forecast, they always have the right shoes on!
Vince is as innocent as witches come, he floats on air and is very zen. He channels energy directly through his pointy hat.
Cha Cha goes nowhere without her powerful red heels. She stands tall, looking out to protect the other witches and their familiars.
Zig may appear self-absorbed but really, he’s holding a witch’s black mirror, searching for spirits behind him… you never know what you may find.
Charlie’s always swinging or jumping from something, he’s the mischievous one of the bunch, thanks to his curly monkey tail. He’s also known to shapeshift into a hare, with his bee stripes bringing him luck wherever he goes.
Ozzy spends his time day dreaming in his beloved wheelbarrow, conjuring up
enchanting dreams for the other creatures.
Hebbel and Hibble come as a pair. They are always found in the woodland, swapping tips for spells and herbal remedies.
A combination of a snail and a bear…both with powerful connections to traditional witchcraft. Snail shells were
collected to use for protective charms and spell work, often tied together on a string. The bear spirit within Banard, also gives him strength and bravery, to conquer his fears.
